Today a Ben Nevis from 2001 is up for tasting. The whisky comes from Douglas Laing's Old Particular series and was bottled at 48.4% ABV when it was eighteen. The whisky in the glass shows itself in old gold and with a medium viscosity.
All in all a very harmonious and appealing Ben Nevis, which knows how to inspire with an exotic and fresh aroma.
    • Nose

When you first smell it, the aromas are still very cautious. Seasoned teak, a slight hint of vanilla, dried banana, dried apples and a touch of wax. Overall, the aromas seem rather reserved, but of great harmony. The alcohol is very well integrated and nothing bothers the nose about this whisky.
    • Taste
      88 88
On the palate, the 48.4% vol. Are quite lively, but without being disturbing. The fruit is clearly ahead and pomelo, star fruit, banana, a little vanilla, ginger and mint give the whisky a fresh but complex structure. With a little water, the dram opens up on the palate and the sweetness is emphasized.
    • Finish
      87 87
Long finish. Fruity, with lime zest, pomelo, ruby grapefruit and ginger, the Ben Nevis says goodbye, then slowly disappears with a sweet note of vanilla.
