This bottling requires some water. The pungent notes in the nose fade away, but the sharp spice aromas remain in the mouth.
    • Nose
      88 88
Complex with nice, subtle smoke, notes of wood, dried fruit but also red wine tannins.
    • Taste
      87 87
Slightly pungent, sweet, hot spices, cigar tobacco, towards the end a bit bitter and dry....
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium length, earthy and woody, dry and a little too much bitter substances (-1 point)

  6. Cask1988 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Ledaig and wine casks seems like to be a match made in heaven. Also this one at a young age has an incredible depth and layered complexity. It is near insanity. Without a doubt the best Ledaig I’ve ever tasted!
    • Nose
This is a beautiful nose. Initially it has a more islay peat nose I’d say, but right after I said that out loud, an impressive development kicks in! It gives barbecue sauce, roasted Beef, roasted paprika powder, and a great layer of warm red wine notes. Also there is an incredible layer of freshness as well as a layer of Arabic spices. A marvelous, complex nose!
    • Taste
Creamy and smooth as hell. Warm red grapes and meaty. There is cigar tobacco and arabic spices. It’s sophisticated, well rounded and very, very tasteful! Impressive after just 9-10 years.
    • Finish
Long, very long! In the finish the real ledaig character finally comes out. A typical earthy character with a , dirt style of peat. There is a nice layer of salty coastal influences. Dunnage warehouses and old wood.

If only I was able to grab a full bottle....

  7. detachedblue scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Dusty peat, dunnage house, chocolate, a lot of dried fruits, a bit artificial, a bit oaky.
    • Taste
Raw nuts, dusty, rotten cloth, wine, modern style- peat.
    • Finish
      Long, leathery and chocolaty.
