  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Again a very nice Midleton Very Rare from the early days of these annual releases. It seemed that the serie has been a learning curve about consistency for Barry Walsh, the Master Blender of Midleton at that time. Definitely the age of the grain and single pot still whiskeys increased with the years as well.
    • Nose
Lots of dried apricots and figs for a start. Some fruity sweetness of tangerines and banana. Dustiness of old books and shoe polish. Old leather at the background. The pure pot still oiliness is clearly present. Later on some cut grass. Flowery notes as well.
    • Taste
Now more on caramelized apples and sweet brown sugar. Followed with maltiness intermingled zest of orange peel and grapefruit. Fudgy notes of treacle and sticky-toffee-pudding. Gingerbread and some roasted almonds. It's all very creamy and 'fattish'.
    • Finish
Medium long. Quite some cinnamon. A little clove and liquorice. Perfectly balanced ánd complex blend of pot still and grain in my view.
