A very interesting profile on the nose: fruity and savory, quite some barbeque smoke with a mild peat note, pancakes with bacon and syrup, cherries, some peanuts, a hint of cow stable, a funkiness hinting to sulfur (though definitely not the sharp sulfur note of some sherry monsters) spicy and peppery with a dusty wood note at the back. Reminds me of several sherry matured Port Charlotte bottlings, but more subtle on the peat and with some extra fruit notes.

Bam, a full on flavour attack! Some bonfire smoke, very spicy, with black pepper, chili peppers (maybe just a bit sharp) cherries, sour red currants, pancakes, black treacle, nutty and meaty, salted bacon.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long: dark fruit syrup, warming chili peppers, liquorice, toasted wood and quite musty at the back of the throat.

This whisky is really a surprise. For around eight years it is incredibly multi-layered and complex. The wine barrel is not only recognizable by its color, but also by its taste.
    • Nose
Creamy, a little caramel, cocoa, vanilla - the smoke is still a bit reserved, but becomes clearer with a little time in the glass
    • Taste
Now the smoke really gets going - peaty and intense, but not unpleasant and not too dominant. You only feel the alcohol relatively slightly, but the barrel all the more clearly. In the mouth the whisky is full-bodied and complex - you have the vanilla and cocoa flavors again, and raisins and chocolate are added.
    • Finish
The finish is long and the smoke still lingers in the mouth, this time more phenolic and earthy - paired with the chocolate and raisins, which add a sweet touch in the background.

Spaghetti carbonara, but not original Italian with guanciale and pecorino, but rather the way Germans prepare it, with smoked streaky bacon, parmigiano and cream. In addition a glass of dry Chianti. For dessert maybe cherry groats with yogurt. You have to imagine this whisky roughly.

Elegant is different, this one goes unchecked forward. But very tasty, and this beautiful, herbaceous-cheesy-soft Bruichladdich smoke is also fully present. I like him very much!

A whisky exactly to my taste!
A lot of smoke, a lot of red wine, some Laddie-typical cheese notes.
    • Nose
Horny bastard! Smoke, sulfur, bacon, sea breeze ... After some time and the first sip, it opens and becomes sweeter and wonderfully winey-fruity.
    • Taste
Much pressure. Smoldering smoke. Salty, parmesan. Tartaric acid. Burnt caramel.
    • Finish
Warm and long. The smoke remains, but becomes milder. Dry back out.

    not my case at all
    the lazy eggs neee
I would have liked more influence from the barrel
    • Nose
      minimal smoke, cowshed, chemical grade
with water: something from the barrel comes through
    • Taste
      strong on the palate
      chemical touch, rotten eggs
    • Finish
      medium long
      rotten eggs, oak

Just a fat, shameless whinesky with peat leg. Perfect bottling time!
