  1. Whisky-Connaisseur did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Another impressive single grain whisky from the sadly closed Port Dundas distillery. Quite young for a grain whisky but already rich and complex in flavours with a delicate sweetness that is balanced with dark fruits, pleasant spices and a really enjoyable nuttiness. Definitely one for my cupboard which, however, won't last very long I suppose. Quaffable both neat or diluted.

    • Nose
A spicy start on the nose with pine needles and fine oak. Then notes of the sherry butt come through with brown sugar, molasses and dark fruits, followed by acacia honey, cereals and lingering creamy vanilla in the back.
    • Taste
Sweet, creamy and slightly warming on the palate with sherry and dark fruits, treacle and raisins. Brown sugar and notes of dark chocolate arrive, followed by a lingering nuttiness towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long and rich. Slightly warming with some dark fruits, followed by creamy vanilla and delicate walnuts towards the end.

With water: By adding a few drops of water there's a bit more sherry coming through accompanied by brown sugar and dark fruits. Significantly more cereal flavours on the nose, too. Sweet, soft and creamy on the palate with significantly more delicate nutty flavours. The finish is a bit shorter, sweet and dry on the tail with some oak and walnuts.
