I have never known such a longmorn. Didn't expect so much. So far I've been one of the biased Longmorn haters. But here you get a lot of whisky for EUR 200.00.

    Good price-performance ratio.

    Above average whisky.

    WOW!!!
    • Nose
      93 93
fruity notes of vanilla with citrus, orange, peach, pleasant sweetness.
    • Taste
      92 92
A real fruit explosion, peach, tropical fruits, mirabelle plums, oranges, grapefruit, citrus fruits, kiwi. I can't really notice what the flavors on the tongue indicate. Then vanilla, some shortbread biscuits.
    • Finish
      92 92
The fruity note of vanilla with the tropical fruits remains in the finish. Blood orange, pomegranate are added, light nutty taste with a little marzipan and cinnamon at the end.

Everyone did a good job here and those who did the new merk and the barrel.
    • Nose
      89 89
Directly hot pressure from a glass. Maple syrup, cloves and cinnamon, orange jam, some oak and spices.
    • Taste
      90 90
Spicy, orange jam with cinnamon and red pepper, oak, burnt sugar, thick maple syrup.
    • Finish
      89 89
      Long, retaining sweetness and profile.

  4. Der_Schnappulierer scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Quite good, but too confused and unbalanced for me.
    • Nose
      88 88
Unusual. Kirschwasser, dark chocolate (Mon Chéri), menthol, Williams Christ pear (schnapps), orange and orange liqueur, apple, lemon, strawberry, sweet perfume, mirabelle plum, vanilla.

It gets a little calmer over time and doesn't throw the different aromas at you so crazy anymore.

With water, everything becomes a little more present.
    • Taste
      89 89
Less heavy and spicy than I would have expected from the nose (still not a light whisky). Lots of orange, milk chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, creamy oak, honey. Has a little bit of that old women's pastry, these chocolate-covered soft biscuits with orange marmalade.

Water provides a light iron note and some lemon. You don't need it.
    • Finish
      85 85
The finish is very soft, with lots of sweetness, fruit and menthol, medium length. It could have been a bit spicier here.

    14.12.2021, blind
    • Nose
Coconut, brittle, nuts, caramel, honey, slightly dusty, grain, melon, apricot, peach, tangerine, orange, very minimal earth, some wood
    • Taste
Apricot, peach, melon, coconut, honey, passion fruit, there are still a few unripe fruits, grapefruit, wood

  6. Tangtang_WhiskyYoda scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    Notes of a blind tasting:

it definitely needs time and air in the glass. Otherwise it looks a bit one-dimensional with the focus on oranges. If you give him the time you won't be disappointed, at least in the nose. The finish is the weakest
    • Nose
      89 89
First of all, I mainly have orange and ..... orange. Some citrus fruits.

I'll give him more time and air in the glass.

OK. He really needed it. Now, in addition to the orange notes, I have other fruit notes which go in the direction of kiwi and melon. It looks a bit sweet with a little caramel and vanilla. Oak.
    • Taste
      88 88
strong start, spicy and slightly hot. then the oranges, honey, a few berries come back, and the sweetness is back too. In between there are also a few other fruit notes. The oak is back too.
    • Finish
      87 87
tends to be cautious when it comes to the aromas. The fruit notes are only present for a short time and the sharp notes combined with citrus fruits predominate.

  7. pecathor scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

Nice dram! My first Longmorn (if I remember correctly), the malt tastes good, well balanced and complex, alcohol well integrated, a lot of fruit, vanilla and new oak. Takes a while to open up, so I let it sit for 90 minutes or so before tasting.
    • Nose
      89 89
vanilla, citrus, dried orange, some spice, bit perfumy, floral & oak notes, old warehouse
    • Taste
      88 88
vanilla, sweet & bitter, loads of fruit (raspberries, strawberries, apricots, citruses), shortbread cookies, pepper & some other spice, new oak wood, nuts
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium long, bitter and sweet, oak notes, fruit stays

  8. whiskyinstitut scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Great part. You can smell it!
    • Nose
      92 92
Vanilla, marzipan, floral, perfume, spring flowers, spicy oak tones, dry licorice, dry orange peel, juice oranges with sugar
    • Taste
      90 90
Sweet, very spicy, creamy, oak spice without end, here too oranges, zest, no dryness or bitterness, milk chocolate
    • Finish
      91 91
Sweet oak spice, citrus-heavy, tangy, yet very harmonious, stays for a long time, both tangy and very spicy

Great fruity, pastry-like and intense nose. Very disappointing in taste and finish.
    • Nose
      91 91
Vanilla, sweet bright fruits, no pieces of pear (from the canned fruit cocktail), beeswax, honeycomb, caramel, then quite strong oak, cocktail cherry, American sandwich, baking powder, overall the nose reminds me very much of fruit pastries such as fruit / vanilla -Plunder. Nice, intense and ripe nose
    • Taste
      82 82
Alternating sweet and bitter, a bit spicy for the age and the comparatively low%. Then it becomes extremely watery in the other. Compared to the nose, it falls off extremely.
    • Finish
      80 80
Very short, salty sparkling mineral water, after which it dilutes. The mouthfeel is nice and dry on the cheeks and at the same time very pleasantly moist on the tongue. Can't save the weak aromatics.

The longmorns I've had so far can be counted on one hand ... so far, no one has disappointed me!

I personally prefer this whisky from the Glencairn glass. Had him in the 1920s Professional Blender's before and alcohol was a bit too dominant for me.
    • Nose
      90 90
Immediately after pouring: slightly sour, mocha, caramel, hazelnut, dates and cola :)

30 min: sultana, dried figs, gooseberries, drinking chocolate and a dash of lime.

      I like it very much.
    • Taste
      90 90
Nice spice on tap, the alcohol stimulates the dram.
Dates, lemon, manderines, toffees and minimally soapy. (not uncomfortable).

EDIT: I have to give him 1 more point.
After about 1 hour in the glass, it increases again.
    • Finish
      89 89
      Medium to long.
      Dusty oak with dark chocolate.
      Licorice and amaretto.

  12. Mannix65 scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

    solid and complex
    • Nose
      89 89
fully ripe apricots, vanilla, tri-top tangerine, kumquats
    • Taste
      89 89
intense tropical yellow fruits - with water the oaky oakiness comes out of the shadows, mirabelle plums
    • Finish
      88 88
medium long yellow fruits with pleasant dry woodiness

He needs a lot of time and air in the glass, until the already clear alcohol evaporates and no longer stands out in the nose. Nevertheless, he needs a lot of water for me.

All in all, the bourbon barrel is too dominant for me, too spicy, too bitter, too woody.

  15. mothers_finest scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A good whisky, the PLV is ok for me, since he has a certain age, singlecask, barrel size, etc ..
Subjective but not a malt I would buy at this price.

Nota bene: my notes do not include PLV.
    • Nose
      89 89
Fresh nose, orange, caramel, fresh, very cool. Round and pleasant.
    • Taste
      88 88
Orange marmalade, some caramel, butter cookies, almonds, brown sugar, caramel, citrus, apricot, pleasant and dignified.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium-long finish, citrus and tangerine peel, slight bitterness on the palate, subtle wood aromas such as freshly sawn sawdust.

Haha, what a mistake to buy a bottle blind.
Here again an example that overpriced Whiskys aren't better.
You need much ice and CocaCola for this one

Orange zest, kiwis, wild honey, limes, orange oil, canned apricots with vanilla, behind them butter cake and a little cocoa, honeydew melon. I like the nose very much!
    • Taste
      88 88
Strong on the nose, spicy with ginger and black pepper, grapefruit, orange marmalade, discreetly a few raspberries in the background, honey cake, oily, dark chocolate
    • Finish
      87 87
The finish is the weakest in my eyes, the beautiful fruit notes are quickly gone and only ginger, grapefruit and lime peel are left behind for a while

  20. dRambo scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Tasty Malt - totally overrated - very tasty flavors but at a high level one-dimensional
    • Nose
      89 89
Orange, orange and ZironenSchale and orange oil, baking cocoa, a lot of wax
    • Taste
      89 89
Orange, gingerbread, milk chocolate, rum balls, mint, grapefruit peel
    • Finish
      88 88
a lot of cocoa and citrus oils, laurel,

Whoever hyped this before sale - it is just like its sister casks: nice but not spectacular. Cui bono?

So tbh it is a good Longmorn but nothing special about this bottle.
Pretty standard imho. I am a bit surprised to see 96P.
Maybe you guys never tried Malts from the '60s or '70s and also the price is really high for a 92 Longmorn.

The first impression did not convince me at first, but I was thrilled at the second tasting.
    • Nose
      91 91
First chalky cask notes, freshly cut champions, then quickly fruit flavors, melon, kiwi, papaya, subtle oak tones.
    • Taste
      92 92
Complex, the character of the spirit is palpable and alcohol is beautifully integrated, colorful mixture of light and red fruits, watermelon, some raspberry, strawberry and blueberry.
    • Finish
      93 93
Long, with wonderful tropical, remaining fruit flavors and pleasant oak bitterness. Mineral influences and barrel flavors are added.
