Tasted at the Golden Promise, Paris, 09/20.
A very great whisky, the nose is sublime!
    • Nose
      93 93
Dirty, dusty, old wood, old attic, a little vinegary/sour (baked apples). After dilution, it opens up completely: the beeswax coats hints of citrus, figs, almonds.
    • Taste
      92 92
Fresh, light, and subtle, with a waxy texture. Fruity and spicy, with lots of chewy notes, honey, eucalyptus, and paraffin.
    • Finish
      92 92
Very long, waxy. Fruitier with dilution.

Brora SV SFTC 21 years (for La Maison du whisky) WID: 123733
Abv. 59.2%, 21 years (1981-2002), Refill Sherry Butt
Nose: a very fine and filigree sherry nose, for a second a touch of nail polish, I find it in this case rather than interesting, because it does not penetrate and quickly flies, the sherry returns with many nuts and almonds, Baked apples, warm beeswax, seal wax, star anise, red and green wine gums, freshly brewed mate tea, over time, the nose is always lighter and fruity, flowers and tart honey, except for the short nail polish note, the alcohol is well integrated despite the 59.2% , with some water also in the nose more spice
Taste: more sherry than in the nose, plums, figs, tangerines, but also lychees, mocha, cocoa powder and a very pronounced spiciness
Finish: long to medium in length and with a good portion of oak, a few more nuts and sherry sweets
Conclusion: A really great refill sherry keg and my first Brora. I would like to have more of that, but you have to wait a bit for that.
