Strange kind of whisky, but not bad at all. It starts a little fruity, then it gets more sweet and it ends where the rye dominates.
Had this one head-2-head with the Cask Strength edition: The latter is reasonable better: Fuller taste, more fruitier. Compared to the CS, this 46% is a little flat, and more sweet than fruity.
    • Nose
      81 81
At first things get a little fruity and sour, it's more like a Grappa or Armagnac kind of nose... Some raisins, and cappuccino. Later on, the rye starts to do its work. Nose it starting to smell like leaven bread, sour dough.
      A bit 'not whisky-like' nose.
    • Taste
      82 82
At the beginning a little fruity as well, raisins, apricots. Some sweet comes in, some vanilla, a hint of coconut, and then caramel. Smooth and soft taste and mouthfeel. Later on, the rye makes its entrance in the taste as well.
    • Finish
      82 82
Now it has a little pepper, pungent in the throat. Some fruity again, some hints of coffee/cappuccino, and again some sweet in the finish, a little vanilla and coconut again. And some caramel. Finish is not that long
