N: Initially a thick yeasty, malty caramel blend but as it opens up it reveals more and more. This malt is old and dank with general smells that eminate from a wood and metal workshop, but theres a lot of fresh, organic activity too. As this opens, the sweet citrus becomes predominant with a secondary dusty/musty/nutty/grassy/salty/oiliness as one - if thats possible. Of course it is, everything is possible with whisky. Add now the malt itself which is finally showing through, light and doughy like a fresh white bloomer straight out of the oven met with cocoa covered turkish delight, [sherried] raisins, caramel and carbolic young acorns, citrus soap, brass cleaner [Brasso] and brass and old leather bringing up the rear. Quite a concoction.
T: oodles of citrus and salt with young spirit making itself known. After such a long, revealing development on the nose, this is huge disappointment. Even the caramel gets defeated by raw ethanol. Nothing can help this baby, water is irrelevant.
F: Tastes like young wood, American white oak but thats a total guess, otherwise its just the aftertaste of harsh, stringent spirit with some fresh, mineral, bitter overtones.
C: Fascinating nose but the rest is for the plug hole. Ive never experienced such a gulf between nose and palate as this.
