  1. JoshNRW scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Well, this must be a collector's whiskey, otherwise I can't explain the 200 euros asked for.

Much better than expected for a NAS at only 40 percent. But there's nothing about it that really takes you away. A really nice blend that reminds me of good Glen Grants with up to 18 years of drinking strength, but with a certain amount of grain as a blend. But the comparison with Glen Grant is something.
    • Nose
      87 87
      87.5
The nose is quite shy, dry barley sugar, a little light wood, toffee, a little honey, shortbread. There isn't much there and the aromas aren't particularly clear. If I had to name something, I would go for dried apricot, hardly any grain notes, surprisingly dense and good for 40 percent.

For me as a blend lover it's still 87 points, but others might only find 82 or 83 points here. Very subjective, but definitely not worth 100 euros or more. But it still feels like there are more than 10 years in the glass here.
    • Taste
      85 85
The palate starts with a woody fruit sweetness, comparatively voluminous for a 40% NAS and ripe barley sugar aromas. Here too, grain notes are only in the background, but they are more there.
But then there's a dry wood and grain note at the back, which isn't particularly nice overall.
    • Finish
      84 84
      84.5
The mouthfeel is ok, definitely not thin, I actually can't believe this sample is only 40%.
The finish is light but medium long.
But you won't find anything more than barley sugar - relatively mature, about 10-12 years on average - here.
