  1. Koning scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

The butt didn't gave this dram a darker colour but certainly imparted some sherried flavours the palate without overpowering it. Any sharp graininess is mellowed out after 32 years of maturation. A well balanced North British!
    • Nose
      87 87
Immediately that typical grainy note, including some glue. It isn't dominant though, and quicky gives way to fresh grapefruits, white chocolate, olive oil and a floral note. It becomes a bit darker with nutty sherry, christmas bread and coffee, accompanied by a sharp spiciness.
    • Taste
      88 88
Fruits (oranges, raisins and cherry), chocolate, cappuccino and vanilla pair with the expected grainy notes (cardboard, glue, sweetness). It also has a dusty quality, indicating a longer maturation. A note of coconut unfolds, together with bittersweet triple sec. An entertaining palate for sure!
    • Finish
      88 88
Bitter yet fresh citrus fruits are complemented by sweeter notes of toffee, raspberry and raisins. Oak spices (including cinnamon) and a slight minerality slowly fade away.
