Maybe my tastes are quieting down, but I found the nose a bit brutal for me. I don't seem to have enjoyed it as much as everyone else.

But in the mouth, the magic and the balance are there. PE peat, with coarse sherry, it works. (I still largely preferred the MoS12017 where the sherry is more discreet)

    90-91
    • Nose
      90 90
A nose definitely fits in. An hour in the glass is not enough to calm it down completely. We feel the degrees.
A little freshly laid macadamia, molasses, cloves, wood, fermented tea.
A compote of caramelized red fruits. Berries, forest fruits. Orange liqueur.
Light smoke, as if you could smell a hot embers.
Light cough syrup, medicinal, with a little bandage and camphor.
    • Taste
      91 91
In the mouth it is strangely smoother, balanced.
We now have a fatty, invasive peat, quite characteristic of Port Ellen.
      It's fatty, earthy, peppery.
The camphor and the medicinal are still there.
We have bitter orange zest, always this compote of red and black fruits.
The spices are set back, more balanced than on the nose. Pepper, noble wood, oily leather, cloves ... they are all there.
    • Finish
      90 90
Long finish on oily peat, camphor, smoke, pepper, eucalyptus. The fruit is discreet.
      Slightly saline.

The empty glass is on the grison meat.
