  1. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

    Nice old vintage malt, towards the finish it gets too bitter for me with grass and oak.
    • Nose
      Sweet mellow grasses, cardamom and camphor, peach, fresh toast, ginger, apricot, honey, tick apple chips
    • Taste
      Nice Malt, Ginger, Cardamom, Camphor, Peach, Roasted Apple, Resin, Tick Mint, Liquorice, Almond
    • Finish
      Malt, ginger, camphor, lots of grass, medium length, bitter

  2. Astrid scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    It runs out of air a little too quickly, the 40% are taking their toll. But he is old and dignified. For the full review, go here: https://halbendrinks.de/2022/01/17/brown-label/

  4. Slick scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      Starts slightly smoky;
      vanilla, herbs, peach, pear, grass, barley;
      slight feel of sea breeze;
      maybe not too complex, but definitely an old style profile.
    • Taste
      Unfortunately, I expected more depth, tried to sip another glass, still kind of flat, not improving much. I think water will kill it, I just didn't wanna risk adding some...
      Some orange, the vanilla is still here and some green tea, slight oakiness.
      Not impressive.
    • Finish
      Medium long.
      Starts spicy, then gets really dry and bitter afterward.
      Not enjoyable at all.

  5. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    My score for 84 is for the mini with no age statement. Not sure why G&M didn't add an age statement to some of these brown label minis when their full-sized counterparts have them.

  6. St. Pauli scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    Again a sniffer whisky: the nose is good, the rest not so much.
    • Nose
      Starts salt on black olives, and on wood smoke. This vanishes soon to leave a nice, but rather mainstream profile of beeswax, barley, vanilla, peach and a touch of mint.
    • Taste
      Honeyed barley, vanilla, fruit (mainly orange juice) and just a hint of grass.
    • Finish
      Long, quite astringent: grass, pepper, and only a little fruit.

  8. MaltMartin scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    A nice G&M Brown label with a typical profile now extinct. Bottled in the 1980's.
    • Nose
      Herbal notes of camphor and lavender. Cut grass. Some hay. Mustardy. Lots of mint. Resinous. Subtle smokiness at the background.
    • Taste
      Quite thick and syrupy. Citrus fruit of lemon and lime. Sandalwood. Phenolic as well. Green olives. Pine.
    • Finish
      Medium long. Dry and peaty. Spices of black pepper and nutmeg. Cloves. Becomes bitter at the end.
