First of all: I found the 1920 best, because it shows an unusual variety of flavors, it is very complex, but still round and delicious to drink. But he was also the easiest of the mouthfeel.
    • Nose
In the nose clear Teenoten, strong black tea, some chamomile, other herbs and a slight sweetness.
    • Taste
In the mouth, first the black tea (without milk and no sugar), then a touch of sweet sherry, which changes very quickly to dry, a bit herbs and minimal sulfur (not negative).
    • Finish
The finish is bitter-sweet, it shows the sherry and the wood has its astringent effect. Round, tasty and relatively dry.

A Macallan, as it was allegedly produced in the 20's ...
From the Travel Series with the 30's a drinkable malt. The enthusiasm is still limited, as the simple 12er sherry is more balanced and more harmonious ...

The nose is interesting, but not impressive.
As with the 30's, there is also a mid-late finish with a rather weak body ...

Without doubt, the series is beautiful to look at, but it is not very suitable for drinking.

This is what was sipped during the Roaring Twenties? I
am not really impressed. Too dry and a tad too sour to my taste. Long gone,
unless you wish to cough up £150 for this 500ml bottle at an auction. Thanks,
    Jan VC, for the sample.
    • Nose
The sherry is immediately present on the nose.
Apricots, oranges, pineapple, blackberries. Quite dry, to be honest. A bit of
      chocolate. Mild smokiness. Soft woodspice.
    • Taste
The attack is soft and gently spiced. Again all sweet
sherry. The fruit is now of the dried variety. Chocolate returns. Does turn a
      bit sour, now.
    • Finish
The finish is soft and warm with a hint of nuts.

  8. Malt Hans scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

Malty and fruity aroma, apricot, lime, peat,

floral honey and cinnamon. Medium sweet taste, pepper, tannins, malt,

anise and toffee. Medium long and herbal end.

  9. The Macallan scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

A perfect re-creation from the 20's. The twenties where quite roaring, but The Macallan stood fast.
    • Nose
A gentle spicyness, some tropical fruit (Pineapple, abricot etc.), perfect sherry influences (reduced: Light sherry notes followed by some grean leafs in Summertime a whiff of smoke and a warm caramel aroma emerges).
    • Taste
Mild and creamy, warm, chocolate notes, slightly dry but very comfortable (reduced: more apple and citrus notes are showing and some nice dried fruit, light dry/woody enjoyable).
    • Finish
Soothing and warming with at the background a small layer of chocolate and hazelnuts.

  10. Drochaid scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    Rich mahogany

    Nose

Rich and resinous, with dried fruits, sherry, hints of citrus and light wood.

    Taste

Classic Macallan with sherried spicy cloves and rich oily viscosity.

    Finish

    Sherried aftertaste with ginger spice.
