An absolutely stunning Chichibu. Lovely how the flavours develop and it keeps continuing to be interesting. I love it!
Lovely! Blueberries, cranberries. A hint of leather. Then it becomes sweeter. Honey here. Figs and raisins. A slight hint of tobacco. Caramel too. After that, a bit of coconut appears. Liquorice. And it’s creamy. Whipped cream? Which is followed by a floral note. With water: More floral.
Plums and raisins. Some lovely honey sweetness. Tobacco again and leather too. Then this is followed by a hint of fresh lemon. With water: Liquorice, anise seeds. Blueberries. And a floral note as well.
The finish is long with hints of lemon and caramel. But also anise and blueberries.
A good whisky, but is that supposed to be a sherry cask? Probably 7x refill, hardly any sherry. Clearly better from Ichiro! Drinkable, but as miles behind as Shery Cask. Clearly prefer the 20% so expensive Kavalan Sherry Cask. Strange finish, not a big hit. A little more ashes and it's a Scot. 85 points with a tendency to 83.
One of the best Sherry SC Chichibu I had so far. Well choosen by the guys from the Jekylls Pub Oslo. Dry, sweet and an ultra long finish. Cask is pretty close to the cream sherry cask, Ichiro San, choose for the Chichibu Whisky Matsuri Festival 2017. Had a second tasting in Danmark with the pretty nice Lisa_Li...even with not that much experience in Chichibu, she was impressed too. Take the chance, when you ever be able to get a dram.
Oi, this is on a different level. The fruity aromas are similar to the SMWS release, but then also extremely well integrated with the influence of the sherry cask. Dark chocolate, blueberries, damp oak, figs, plums and brown sugar. A touch of soy, finally. I could go on. Love the complexity here.
Lots of dark and somewhat bitter coffee notes. More espresso than cappuccino. Intense honey and bitter caramel as well, but also tobacco, raisins and licorice. Subtle spices. Finally, even some star anise, as well as mocha.
