The nose was both restrained and alcoholic. The creamy mouth was interesting but once again alcohol was not well-integrated. Still an enjoyable dram.

    Tasting from january 2017
    • Nose
Quite discreet. A bit alcoholic. Sherry flavors, some mint, vanilla.
    • Taste
The creamy texture strikes first and the punchy attack comes second. Caramel, vanilla, fruits (oranges) and oak. Water tames the oak bitterness.
    • Finish
      Long, chocolate, oak, nuts.

This is from memory.  I haven't had this whisky in a number of years but I had this as part of a series, batches 6-18 and 21 all opened together.   These bottles were all purchased for prices between $50 and $55 US.  Therefore, the price receives high marks considering the overall quality.

The best Abunadh, that I have ever tried. What an excellent batch.

the finish is long, warm and spicy with hints of sweet licorice.

Not much difference in my opinion with batch # 10 (cross comparison). Maybe slightly sweeter.
    • Nose
      Sherry and mint, Sweetness. Powerfull.
    • Taste
Very rich and creamy. Vanilla, cherries, oak.
    • Finish
      Long, nougat. Vanilla again.

I Love the power of Aberlour! It has great taste of sherry and fruits.

This also is a powerful scotch so I don`t recommend it to new whisky

users. It is good to gain a palate that recognizes the difference

between cask strength and some that are less ABV like 40% or 43%.

    • Nose
Just after pouring into the glass: vanilla, caramel and an (unpleasant) smell of plastic or rubber. At aeration: brandy, cocoa, red fruit and a kernel odor. No alcohol sensation despite 60 ° but not very exuberant either.
    • Taste
Big, tangy sensation at the beginning of the mouth (you know how when you eat sweets with sugar on it). Then it's pretty hot on orange and cherry. With a little water, it looks a lot sweeter. No more heaviness.
    • Finish
Long on chocolate with a little bitterness, woody notes. it ends on nuts (nuts).

A very good sherry monster, my favorite in the + or - 50â €
    • Nose
Sherry monster! Need aeration so that the fruits stand out if it is too "alcoholic". Then brandy of cherry, orange, chocolate, spices.
    • Taste
A few drops of water do him good. Red fruits, dried fruit, orange, praline, ginger, slightly woody.
    • Finish
Very long and very hot on dark chocolate, oak and always orange, cherry.
