    Tasting Notes:

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Nose: fresh and light, very fruity, especially light fruits, honeydew melon, sweet, vanilla, pastry, with a dusty woody note, which one has with many old Bourbon barrel whisky, some wax and the smell of outgoing candle. I find the nose very pleasant and successful.
Mouth: Amazingly strong, slightly sour-salty, menthol and old oak, slightly sugary, slightly tart.
Finish: First comes the old oak, then a few bittern notes, fades out on menthol, oak and light smoky notes.

Conclusion: One freezes, of course, in awe of the name. And it's also good whisky. The nose I find a force, the finish is also delicious, in the mouth he offers me a little too little. A wistful look into a bygone whisky world!

    Ben Wyvis, 1968 - 2000, 31 years, Cask 686, 50.1% SV Ben Wyvis, 1968 - 2000, 31 years, Cask 686, 50.1% alc.
    Bottler: Signatory Vintage
    Region: Highlands, Scotland
    Limited to 86 bottles.

Special feature: decommissioned in 1976 and finally demolished in 1977. Very few bottlings have appeared on the market. If there is a chance to buy, then for about 1,000 € to 1,400 € in auctions, at dealers scarce 1,500 €.

Nose: A light sherry sweet, very fruity onset. I like it right away. Raspberries and melon, some milk chocolate and other fruits alternate with licorice and salmiak. But there are also spices, some pepper, cinnamon, vanilla pods. I could spend hours smelling glass.

Palate: More powerful than the nose, slight pungency, menthol, malt and the fruits (berries, melon, a little orchard). Eucalyptus also weighs a bit.

Finish: long and very pleasant. A nice long, but not too strong oak note.

    Conclusion: 89/100 points (tasted 2014, about 1,500 €)

"Bottled over a decade ago, this is a very special Signatory edition of

Ben Wyvis, the single malt made at Whyte & Mackay`s Invergordon

distillery for a brief period between 1965 and 1976. Almost all Ben

Wyvis went straight for blending so this is rare indeed. Just 84 sets

were released, each with a miniature of the spirit included in the box."
