I hear this is a 16yo Glenfarclas, but realise this is old news.
N: All the gooey cakes, thick pipped icing and coppery Manuka & creamy Bulgarian honey. Moderately sherried.
T: Oh yes, the thick & resinous sherry maturation is evident straight off the bat, though this is no Black Betty.
F: This is grape-y & cask-y, but good cask-y, with a finish on dark raisins and slightly congealed oils.
C: Scores highly for its joyous drinkability, available at only £60 in 2017.

    • Nose
Leather polish with dried figs and soft notes of tobacco leaves. Hints of maraschino cherries and almond paste, as well as of sultanas and raisins. A light touch of pickled lemon. Very sweet.
    • Taste
More of the maraschino cherries, with a hint of plums and orange zest, as well as a touch of cappuccino. There's plenty of spices too, like cloves and cinnamon.
    • Finish
Sultanas, and a rather intense spiciness, before settling down into sweeter citrus notes.

Pleasantly surprised, not bad but nothing exceptional either. A Daily Dram.
    • Nose
A beautiful presence, a greedy nose. There are woody notes at the beginning then the whole takes shape little by little. There is mint, anise and a nice freshness almost medicated. I also find notes of apple / cinnamon.
    • Taste
Alcohol moderately integrated. There are spices (cinnamon?) And a plant side, herbaceous (green wood?).
    • Finish
Medium, fresh, minty and slightly woody.

    Enthusiasm: Nose 4/5 Mouth 3/5 Final 2/5 Whisky n ° 1671
    • Nose
Like a dry port. Fresh, with raspberry, there is also chocolate and cashew.
    • Taste
Quite powerful. (Too much?) Well spiced, it lacks body, paradoxically.
    • Finish
      A little weak.

Nose: starts on dry, old-style Oloroso notes, including figs and raisins, as well as some spices like cinnamon and soft pepper. Then it becomes sweeter and fruitier. A little vanilla and red berry candy. Baked apple. Butter pastry. Rich and aromatic, really good.
Mouth: rich again, but malty and much more spicy. Plenty of pepper, hints of cloves. Orange and lemon zests, berries, plums, a little coffee-schnapps. Liquorice and herbal liqueur. Less sweet and fruity than on the nose.
Finish: long and rather drying, with hints of Brandy de Jerez, apple peelings, raisins and clove.I like the nose much better than the spicy, dry palate, but overall this is simply a rich sherried Speysider. The price (€ 69) makes this an attractive deal and a perfect daily dram.
