  1. Dede did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Shoplinks are wrong : they point to an older bottling without the royal warrant on the label.

  2. Edwin de Lange scored this whisky 97 points Expert Senior

One of my favorite all time drams!

Was one of the strongest whisky`s I have in the collection from Islay. This bottle was one of the first in my collection and man did I not like it. I put it on the shelf and left for about a year until I tried I few more from the spectrum of Regions out there. Then after some time and getting my palate more prepared, I approached it again and know find it very nice.

In addition to very nice scotch - a lifetime lease on a square foot of Islay (Friend of Laphroaig)
    • Nose
Phenolic, seaweedy, with a hint of estery, melony, sweetness.
    • Taste
      Seaweedy, salty, oily.
    • Finish
      Round and very dry

  6. Feusi scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Peaty sweet with a pleasant smoke in the nose. Oily heavy with a lot of peat in the palate, yet pleasantly sweet with a nice smoke. You love him or not...

A superb nose for this classic Islay. Unfortunately the mouth and the finish are below but, in return, it makes it very accessible and very (dangerously) drinkable. !!
-> The version tested in these notes is that of 2002.
    • Nose
Bewitching and obviously focused on peat. The nose is full with notes of smoked bacon, burnt wood, heated metals a bit like in a steel plant.
    • Taste
Attack on smoke, ashes. She lacks body and disappoints a little in front of the nose.
    • Finish
Good finale on the ashes and the wood.
