velvety and honeyed sweetness, slightly maderized fruits, intense spices, rather pronounced woody, almonds.
on the palate, it is more spicy and more alcoholic at first, the woody arrives, there is vanilla, toffee, very soft caramel and cooked fruits, a little light mold and return well honeyed.
in the final, it's unfortunately pretty short.

    • Nose
The port wine influence reveals itself to me here with notes of fruity linseed oil in the nose. Smells very healthy! On this oily carpet then immediately builds a whole fruit basket of fruits. Freshly sliced yellow sweet mango and some unripe bananas, red grapes and pear compote. Honey sweetness with traces of vanilla and caramel deepen the sweet fruit even further. Florale notes after violets are not my thing otherwise, but here they are subtle and almost the harbinger of a spicy grassy herb meadow in late summer, which opens up with a longer smell in front of the eyes - really beautiful! The partly older port wine barrels show surprisingly little influence, primarily I have freshly polished tart oak and planed wood shavings.
    • Taste
This Teeling starts warm and dry with a nutty-oily texture. It is then also really sweet with fragrant acacia honey and heather. The oily does not let up, over and over again come freshly chopped flax seeds, plus ground peppercorns and macadamia nuts. The sweetness continues to become more herbaceous and a few mirabelle plums, immature cherries and sweet pears cheat. Again, I would have expected more strong European oak, but the woody character remains more in the background and tastes rather freshly beaten and polished and slightly resinous.
    • Finish
The finish is a little sensation! Although not overly long, but very aromatic. The oily continues, over-ripe mirabelles, roasted aniseed and hazelnuts, fresh hay and light grapes provide an aromatic-fresh mouthfeel. Some bitter oak sets dry accents.

  4. Don Cassi scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

Typical for Teeling, it has a very light and floral nose, but compared to the Brabazon 1 it is much more fruity (currants, wild berries), which in my opinion suits the distillery style better than the spice of the sherry.

This impression continues in the mouth, the port has added more sweet and sour notes that combine better with the house style.

In the finish, the red fruits appear again, which combine with a light spicy oak, which fades away slightly bitter at the end, but is not as dominant as the predecessor.
    Length: 4/10

Overall I like it better than version 1 as the port's fruity profile suits the light Irish style better and the casks seem to be of better quality. However, there is also a lack of intensity here apart from the alcohol content.

    Grade: 2

Again too young whisky from Teeling distillery, barrels of average quality, plus the fact that you can feel the character of the distillery.
    • Nose
Sweet and spicy, old strawberry, cranberry, raisins, ginger, young pear, distant hint of raspberries, herbs, mandarin, marzipan, lemon peel, bread, butter rolls, red grapes.
    • Taste
Sweet and spicy, pears, cinnamon, plums, old strawberries, fruit cake, nutmeg, red grapes, vanilla, butter.
    • Finish
Spicy, medium length, sweet, light strawberry note, white chocolate, marzipan, ginger, oak, honey, creaminess.

I am a little spoiled with the older Teeling
21 and 24 years old and miss the delicate ones
Passion fruit notes. Hopefully they get that in
    Future again.

  14. Malthead19 scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

    - very characterful Irish single malt
    - I think it's better than the No.1 SHERRY
has a fruity, softer, rounder effect compared to the No.1
more elegant and for me better in taste, especially the dark fruits come out great and the dark chocolate / coffee note,

    - Definitely too expensive for 70 €, currently about 45 € ok
    • Nose
Grapes, plums, dark fruits, strong and intense (still slightly alcoholic) impression

(with water): super intense, horny fruity nose, lots of old grapes and dark fruits, the "stinging element" in the nose is gone, really awesome!
    • Taste
(undiluted): spicy, very powerful, powerful approach, lots of oak, dark fruits, berries, dark chocolate, grapes, port wine

(with water): remains powerful and massive, dark fruits, dark chocolate and coffee
    • Finish
      medium-long, powerful finish;
      medium-long spicy aftertaste, dark chocolate

  15. Totoro scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

I much prefer this to the Oloroso-centered "Series 01". Displays more character as well as some surprisingly old and "edgy" oak notes.
    • Nose
      87 87
Fruity and simultaneously musty, with a spicy edge that hints at the European oak involved in this bottling. Redcurrant, grape, Italian bitter orange soda, damp wooden attic and/or cellar, "dusty" oak spice, chocolate, clove, bay leaf, incense, limestone. In my view, the only thing that's holding this nose back are the younger components, which, due to the higher strength, interfere with the aromatic nuances. However, time and a drop of water work wonders here, pushing back the more aggressive aspect and boosting the lovely old cask aromas. Becomes more and more aromatic and fragrant the longer it's allowed to sit in dilution, ending up in almost perfumed, pleasantly musky territories. 86 points without water, close to 88 with water.
    • Taste
      87 87
Mild and fruity attack with a velvety mouthfeel, then the intensity is dialed up quickly and the almost 50% make their presence felt. A good deal of heat and spicy oak in the middle, and then the fruits have their say, with poached pears and wine-soaked plums in the lead. Fairly sweet throughout, but never over the top, always balanced out by some spicy and herbal notes from the oak. Gets progressively drier, but never sheds its fruitiness completely. Good!
    • Finish
      84 84
Very okay, though the younger malts in the vatting predominate at this point, and even adding water can't help that. Quite a few bitters from the cask as well.

  16. SimondeVette scored this whisky 79 points Expert Junior

Good whisky. The influence of the port casks is subtle, but noticable. It is fruity and nicely balanced
    • Nose
Fruity, citrus, apricot, a bit flowery, vanilla
    • Taste
Caramel, dried fruits, pepper, oak, spicy, vanilla
    • Finish
A bit sharp, bitter, woad, raisins. A short finish, but it is not washy

Aroma: open bright, dark berries, forest and garden: black currant, blueberry, blueberry, mulberry and jam from them, honey, syrup, dry wood, bark. Vanilla pastry and green apple are completely background.

Taste: bright, rich, pinching tongue and palate, red pepper, extra black chocolate, dark raisins, the same variety of forest and garden dark berries with the addition of bitter viburnum, plum skin, tannin, burnt caramel.

Finish: dark chocolate with raisins, compote of dried fruits, light woody motifs, pleasant ginger core, buttery, medium length.

    Rating: 86

The result: a pleasant chocolate and berry whisky, a classic port as it should be, the influence of barrels is very strong. Without failures from aroma to finish, the fortress is ideal for me, reveals the taste well and there is no excessive alcohol content.

N- The soothing scents of oatmeal profile on Teeling's profile well reserved, just perfect for a breakfast dram. Boiled berries, citrus candy and peaches chirping away. Solid and lasting strength at spine with floral sandalwood fragrant, rounded with old oily cigar smokes. (87/21)

P- Honey comb, cream puff pastries with cut peach. The usual peppery, clove, plum and limey. Feels there are some edgy oily new make lingers, but a quality new make nonetheless, harmless. (87/21)

F- Medium, puffy pepper nuance with rising phenol, balance spicy and winery, hoped for more intense red fruits but lacking. (86/20)

    Body/Balance - 87/21

The nose made me a little worried, the rest was then really great, beautiful varied and reasonably round with many excursions, beautiful Porteinfluss.
    • Nose
Very own nose, mushy pear, apple brandy, unripe banana, light honey, lamp oil, what grassy behind, Esther notes
    • Taste
Hmm, here comes the port out pretty well, the pear is back clearly, vineyard peach, linseed oil, candle wax, Calvados, everywhere behind it sweet sweet wine and Gummibärennoten from the port, full of honey, toffee, brown sugar, a little grass, almonds, a touch of white pepper, heather, fennel, beautiful mixture of the whole spectrum
    • Finish
Sweet malt, oak and tannins are clearly noticeable, almonds continue, honey, toffee, sugar and grasses, medium-long, fruity

The port casks have not overpowered the malt at all, but do play a significant role, making this whisky a veritable gem. Around 70 EUR and worth every cent.
    • Nose
Oh, yes, this nose is something else. Dark and sweet on plums, raisins and a marmalade of figs, loads of dried pineapple and strawberry, but also wonderful citrusy notes (think grapefruit and mandarin). It smells syrupy sweet. Chocolate cookies. Wonderful.
    • Taste
It in indeed quite syrupy on the palate, but also very spicy. Next to maple syrup, candied sugar and nutmeg, I get plums, blueberries, figs and strawberries in a stew. Loads of toffee. A mild salty edge kicks in with a vengeance, but it works just fine! The oak gives it a drying element. Again wonderful.
    • Finish
The finish is simply marvellous. Sweet verses salt, drying, spicy and very long.
