I really like it very much - put a lot of emphasis on the standard range - bring along its own profile - I think the level of prizes of € 200-220 is just right - the Parli and Allardice are already very good.
    • Nose
Full and voluminous, red wine with grape seeds and influence of moist wood, sour red berries, plum jam, oranges TicTac, green tea, geranium leaves, jasmine flowers, beeswax and a hint of anise, very round and oily - creamy, buttery nose - charming, pure and clearly, it changes in waves - always on the move
    • Taste
Wood, leather, tobacco, ginger, mint and red berries - typical GD profile - compared to Parliament - rather more sweet and especially sour fruit as much leather and sweetness, very well balanced, nice texture, it looks cleaner, has more elegance without his profile of sherrybo, to leave be - the alcohol content is perfect for me - a very delicate tickling is still felt when chewing - which then goes over in chocolate with rum raisins and espresso
    • Finish
Warming, tingling, very long, first the fruit dissolves, then it stays chocolaty with nuts for a long time to pour out in a fine creamy wood note - the finish is outstanding

Well this is the most intensive GlenDronach of the Danish releases. In my opinion it's hard to compare it with the GlenDronach Parliament 21 or the Allardice. Sure you got 25 years of sherry cask maturation (not knowing what kind of casks) comming along with a GlenDronach, therefore this lad is very delicious. Although when you are used to this Parliament, Allardice, Revival or 12 year old (yes, the 2013 versions) fellows this kind of sherry mixture/maturation is kind of slaying the GlenDronach. Don't get me wrong, I like this fellow but for me the wine cellar/sulphur element on the nose is dividing me from the experience of having a great old GlenDronach 25.Concerning price/performance ratio: 7/10
    • Nose
Wine cellar (moldy, wet, nutty, earthy and some oak punch), chocolate, dried dark grapes, marzipan, raisins, plums, some sulphur, fermented berries, dark fruits, overripe blood oranges.
    • Taste
Dark dried fruits, spicy oak, hints of cinnamon, chocolate, nuts, berries, plums, overripe blood orange, cloves, leather.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Dark chocolate, cloves, nutmeg, leather and some espresso.

On the verge of reaching 90 points, however, it lacks the impact I would have expected from a Glendronach with this presentation (age, ABV, etc.). Regardless though, it is quite complex and superbly balanced against just being “sherry overcoat”. The price is a different question, but I left that out of my review and score.
    • Nose
Immediately quite vinaceous. Oranges, grapes, and plums. Associations of naphthalene and paint thinner. Interesting start for sure! With some air this oddness turns into what I expected from an old sherried Glendronach: roasted hazelnuts and honey-glazed oak. At this point the maturity of the spirit is balanced nicely against the cask itself.
    • Taste
Good clean arrival of juicy figs and dates. Tons of caramelized sugar and dark chocolate. Dewey forest berries, walnut oil, and even some chili. Reminiscence of Glendronach’s greatness coupled with sherry aromas I have found in old Benrinnes and Strathislas.
    • Finish
Medium. Sweet and mildly tannic, with herbal honey and over-brewed green tea.

Boogieman did his anual tasting in november 2017. This time with this great Glendronach 25. Still the price and hype told an other story the dram did. Good, but not as deep as many single cask CS versions of Glendronach do for me.
