    Color :
Dark gold to amber. Smell :
A mild but inviting, well-balanced and complex whiskey with notes of juicy fruits, fresh fruit, berries, varnish, solvent, old furniture, roasted nuts, mild coffee, floral notes, vanilla, caramel, Crème brûlée, fresh croissants, oak, maple syrup freshly cut wood, a hint of smoke (probably from the barrel), spices, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, a hint of menthol, bitter orange peel and marmalade.
A very inviting scented whiskey with an interesting layering. He needs some time in the glass to open up and release the subtler aromas. Just in the glass, the varnish and solvent can show what is overwhelming but give him some time and then it is a very juicy and fruity whiskey. Taste :
A rich, complex, layered and mouth filling whiskey with a smooth and syrup-like mouthfeel. The aromas of the fragrance recur largely with notes of varnish, lots of fruit, apple juice, gooseberries, red berries, banana, peach, apricot, mandarin, citrus and passion fruit. Then there are notes of vanilla, lots of oak, bubblegum, mixed notes, soft tannins (not bitter), soft flavors of licorice, a hint of mint, licorice, caramel, honey, leather, green tea, salmiak, various spices like cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, white pepper and soft clove.
A nicely balanced, complex, inviting and fresh fruity whiskey. The different aroma registers in this whiskey are very impressive. Finish :
A medium to long aftertaste with a beautiful layering that is slightly drying with notes of spices, various wood tones, tannins, vanilla, fresh fruits, old sherry, green notes of chlorophyll and green tea. A very interesting old Single Grain whiskey that is fresh and soft but has an enormous depth and complexity. This is for me one of the best Single Grains I have been able to taste until now. This is an ambassador for Single Grain whiskeys and can convince every Single Malt snob that Single Grain's can also be very fascinating and surprising. Rating :
    93/100
