About Yamazaki Distillery

Started with one pair of pot stills. A second pair were added after a few year. Expanded with two more pot stills in 1958 (six pair total?). Floor malting was abandoned in 1969. Mechanical malting with Wander-Hahfen (Sort of Saladin) 1969 to 1972. The peat was imported from Scotland. Were renovated in  1980. Closed for two year 1987-88  when three of the pairs of stills were shrunken. Sometime they have had to increased the number of pot stills to twelve. When? 1980? Closed September 2005 and six pot stills were replaced with two pair of smaller  pot stills from Forsythe (UK) and a smaller pair from Miyake (Japan). Opened again February 2006. Two mash tunes. Had six pair of pot stills with lots of variety in all areas. Have a mix of worm tubs and shell and tubes. Have own cooperage. Two new pair of pot stills were installed March 2013. Lots of variety between them to.
