What is Blended Whisky?

“Blended whisky” is a generic product term meaning a mix of malt and grain whiskies. For Scotch, the legally correct sales description is Blended Scotch Whisky: a blend of one or more single malt Scotch whiskies with one or more single grain Scotch whiskies, matured in Scotland ≥3 years in oak (≤700 L) and bottled at ≥40% ABV. Outside Scotland, “blended whisky” appears on labels under each country’s rules.

On Whiskybase, “Blended Whisky” is used as a brand label to group bottles that are titled simply “Blended Whisky” (often non-proprietary or multi-origin releases). Searching that brand page or the shop category returns many such entries across bottlers and countries, not one single brand.
