What is Irish Malt?

“Irish Malt” corresponds to the GI variety Malt Irish Whiskey/Irish Malt Whiskey: whiskey made from a mash of 100% malted barley, distilled in pot stills, and matured on the island of Ireland for ≥3 years in wooden casks not exceeding 700 L; bottling must be ≥40% ABV. When all the whiskey comes from one distillery, it may be labelled Single Malt Irish Whiskey.

On Whiskybase, “Irish Malt” is used as a brand label to group such releases across bottlers—see the brand page and example bottles; shop listings often note the distillery is undisclosed.
