This Glen Garioch has a very idiosyncratic character that only flexes its muscles in the taste. Having bottlings from this distillery, I can't even tell if that's characteristic of Glen Garioch?

    Anyway, a very interesting experience!
Let's see what he brings up another day.

Immediately super juicy fruits jump out of the glass. The advertised apples are definitely there and perfectly describe the spectacle of aromas. A lot of tangy and juicy apple joins a slightly dry cocoa note. Now there is also a delicate hint of furniture polish, which is probably due to the beautiful age. Light vanilla, some lemon candy and a sweetish-dry mixture of nutmeg and tonka beans remain discreetly in the background. Incredibly beautiful, balanced and solid. Now I have vanilla ice cream with cocoa sprinkles. I like it that way!

The malt is very creamy and delicate on the tongue. Suddenly a very unexpected and somewhat strange musty note hits! What is that? Like a musty old attic. But not cold and musty, but warm and dry? Then again delicate fruit notes, with the apple going more in the direction of apple skin. A slight citrus note is also evident again. In addition, locally growing herbs such as thyme and sage paired with lemon balm. Significantly less fruity and juicy than on the nose, a true shapeshifter.
    • Finish

Relatively long and the tart side is quite voluminous. Covers the tongue significantly and leaves a slightly furry feeling, like after brushing your teeth. Of course it doesn't taste like toothpaste. Is that some soap? Anyway, I would describe the remaining taste as a tart lemon zest with dry, "smoked out" cocoa powder and a hint of soapy water. The harsh impact even suggests a hint of cold ash. Strange, but extremely interesting.
