M&H Elements Sherry, 46% alc. Aging: Bourbon barrels, Oloroso and PX sherry barrels

Nose: A mixture of red gummy bears and fruity/nutty aromas. I find raisins, walnuts and almonds, as well as caramel and marzipan. In the background, a very subtle hint of mint chocolate.

Palate: Still beautifully sweet and fruity, dried apricots alongside cherries, cranberries and raisins, marzipan, walnuts and oranges. No aroma is particularly predominant or stands out, a fine sweet composition.

Finish: Medium length, with roasted almonds, chopped nuts and sultanas. Also cigar tobacco.

Conclusion: Convincing performance of a still young but already very harmonious single malt. 84/100 (2024)

Interesting to taste a whisky, kosher produced from Israel, the land of milk & honey. Overall this quite young whisky is really interesting. I think when it ages it might even become better in taste, but as young as it is, it gives some nice layers.
    • Nose
In the beginning very intense on the nose, with rich sherry notes. Honey, caramel, red dried fruits. The oak is quite intense. Somehow there is a deep sense of green apples, and some citrus. On the background a hint of mint.
    • Taste
Taste starts fruity, after 7 or 8 seconds more spice. First part of the taste is more PX sweetness, changing to Oloroso nuttyness.  Furthermore some nice oak, some chocolate, but not that intense as the bottle describes. Added to that some citrus, some tannine, and some bitter orange and ginger. This one needs to breathe in the glass for a while to discover deeper flavors, and a drop of water will definitely help to discover more.
    • Finish
Finish, medium long where sweetness and spiciness and a bit soar follow each other up. Some tobacco in the background.

The nose suggests enormous sweetness, which is then no longer so strong in the taste and more swung over into the Oloroso rail and reveals slightly nutty components; what runs through nosing and tasting is the orange and marzipan aroma. Unfortunately, he's gone quickly. I find around 50 euros for this malt quite steep; for 30/35 euros you could think about it. The reference Glendronach 12 or Glenallachie 12 are currently between 35 and 40 euros, so M&H has a hard time with its malt. Maybe you should try a sample first.
    [81 - 78 = 'ok' whisky -> but do I need a whole bottle?]

Full sherry aroma with raisins, juicy-sweet apricot and a rather dominant orange aroma, plus brown sugar / marzipan as well as almonds and hazelnuts. In addition to the apricot as a “light-fruity” representative, I also find juicy pears and sweet apples, sugar-sweet honey and caramel. The focus here is clearly on the PX sweetness along with nutty Oloroso sherry; you get a sugar shock from nosing alone. The alcohol stings your nose every now and then, but is still reasonably well integrated. With a lot of time and enough air, herbaceous nuances actually emerge that are most likely to go towards lovage. However, there is no more “depth”.
    • Taste
      80 80
First soft step, but then peppery and sharp on the tongue; sticky viscous mouthfeel. The sherry comes through well again, the fruit is turned back a bit, but still there. Getting drier and not as sweet as the nose suggests; the dry and nutty Oloroso dominates here.
Second sip: the orange aroma along with marzipan comes out more clearly, the tongue has gotten used to the sharpness. You then notice the youthful sharpness that is simply given; but that doesn't have to have a negative connotation. It is getting drier on the tongue and the oak tannins appear. Walnut shell with a little imagination.
    • Finish
      77 77
The finish is then a maximum of medium length with dry oak tannins and slightly nutty Oloroso-Sherry influences ... that's it, that's all there is to it.
