I hadn't tasted the Lagavulin 16 Years in a long time, and used to always think it was good, but also slightly overrated. Not anymore though.

Cured meats alongside hints of tar, rubber and charcoal, as well as bonfire, driftwood and camphor. Also whiffs of hemp rope and salted caramel, but then a gentle fruitiness highlighted by clementines and white peaches.

Texture is quite viscous, even at this low alcohol percentage, and there’s a pleasant salinity as well. Sugar-coated peanuts with smoked barley husks, grilled beef, black olives and oranges, as well as earthy peat, tar and seaweed. Very happy with this.

Medium length. A sprinkle of salt, some walnuts and syrupy caramel, as well as lingering notes of iodine and diesel.
