Seriously good whisky for its age. An excellent sherry cask has been used here. Old wood, sour sherry notes, not too heavy on the red fruits/berries, quite spicy (ginger and black pepper), malt, light coffee bitter/earthy notes, molasses, and caramel/honey sweetness. Takes water very well without disintegrating.

The alcohol is too heavy on the nose. What a surprise at 65,2% ABV, right? This whisky urgently needs water! After dilution to about 48%, the nose becomes very beautiful.

This whisky has all the right notes of a successful sherry maturation, and has no off notes like Sulphur or metallic notes for instance. If it had a little bit better balance (less spiciness and more sourness and red fruits), I would score it overall way over 90. But it might be just a case of personal preference here, of course...

Medium to long.
