May well be distilled in the 1960s or before. A clear old-style RF Sherry influence in a mostly bourbon vat, this is a classic example of unmonitored sulphur eventually settled with time in oak. The price premium is on the unique aged character and opportunuity to taste a piece of the history, not on the flavour profile alone.

Vintage European oak. Dried red grape skin. Incredibly nutty - raw cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts. Burnt tobacco, mildly ashy. Old leather chair. Digging deeper, sundried rasberries and cranberries. maraschino cherry. A whiff of wet grass. A touch of saltiness, and sweet vanilla cream emerged as it breathes. Multi-layered, but the 46% has restrainted it a lot, a good sample where a blender's glass would help drag out the subtilties.

Medium-bodied. Very slightly oily. Red fruits residuals, like mashing it all with skins on then drain away the juice. A little vanilla. Again, mldly ashy oak. A touch of salinity at the back. Toffee towards the very end.

Long, slowly drying finish. Smouldering cedar wood. Throat warming spices. Toasted cereals. Very subtly tropical and blended damp grass.
