About Ailsa Bay Distillery
Ailsa Bay is a whisky distillery in the Lowlands. It is located at the same area as the Grain Whisky Distillery Girvan. Both belong to William Grant and Son. Alisa Bay has been build at the place where previously the Ladyburn Distillery have been. Alisa Bay has been build to satisfy the need of Malt Whisky for the production of Blended Whisky. Now, both, a Grain Whisky Distillery and a Malt Whisky Distillery are at the same place. That results in a need of less people and the easier production of Blended Whisky. Alisa Bay has been established in 2007 and started the production already nine month later. The yearly production capacity is at about 12.000.000 litres. The production supports four different characters in general:
estery, nutty, fruity and heavily peated.
Since 2016 are bottling from Ailsa Bay on the market.
