Wolfburn

Wolfburn Distillery is located on the outskirts of Thurso in Caithness, making it the northernmost distillery on mainland Scotland. The original Wolfburn Distillery, founded in 1821, fell silent in the late 1800s, but a new facility—about 350 meters from original location—began production in 2013, drawing cooling and process water from the Wolf Burn stream. Privately owned (trading as Aurora Brewing/Wolfburn Distillery Ltd.), it operates on an artisanal scale of roughly 125,000 liters of alcohol per year, with all mashing, distillation, maturation, and bottling handled on-site.
