High Coast

High Coast is a Swedish single malt whisky brand produced at the distillery in Bjärtrå on the banks of the Ångermanälven River, taking its name from the Höga Kusten (High Coast) region. Originally founded as Box Distillery in 2010 within the former power plant of a wooden box factory, it marked a revival of local whisky production. In June 2018, both distillery and brand were renamed High Coast to avoid confusion with a Scotch blender and to underscore their connection to the surrounding landscape. The core range includes both unpeated and peated single malts matured in nearby warehouses, reflecting the area’s maritime climate and sharply cold winters.
