Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a legally defined Scotch category: a blend of two or more single malt Scotch whiskies from different distilleries, with no grain whisky included. Blended Malt Scotch Whisky has to meet all Scotch rules: it must be distilled and matured in Scotland for at least three years in oak casks (≤700 L) and bottled at a minimum 40% ABV. Historically, blended malt was variously also called “vatted malt” or “pure malt,” however, those terms are no longer permitted on whisky labels.
On Whiskybase, "Blended Malt Scotch Whisky" is a brand name used by many bottlers on hundreds of bottles, so searching whiskies with the "Blended Malt Scotch Whisky" brand name yields a wide variety of results.
