Brora is a single malt Scotch whisky brand named after the former Brora Distillery in the Highlands. Founded in 1819 as Clynelish, it was renamed Brora in 1969 when a new Clynelish Distillery was built alongside it. Brora produced heavily peated whisky during the early 1970s to supply blends, later moving to a more lightly peated style before closing in 1983. The distillery remained silent for decades, with surviving casks becoming highly sought after by collectors, until it was rebuilt and reopened by Diageo in 2021.
