About HamishC:

As a young lad, I lived in Scotland but moved with my family to Canada when I was 10.  The trip to Canada by airplanes gave me my first exposure to Mini Liquor Bottles and of course many were containing varieties of Scotch.  I wasn't allowed to drink them but I did my best to collect as many as I could on those flights - both sealed and empty.  They were a true novelty for a youngster, being made of glass at the time and all displaying colorful caps and labels.  There were many visits back to Scotland and I continued to accumulate more of these little treasures along with my cast iron Dinky Toys.  Friends and relatives knew of my wee hobby and were quite pleased to help my collection grow.  By my late teens, I had already accumulated several hundred Scotch bottles (mostly unopened) along with just as many wines and other liquors.  The collection was getting to be difficult to move and display so I began trying to specialize in Single Malts only.  I took a break from collecting the minis once the plastic bottles started becoming popular - it just didn't have the same appeal anymore.  In my 50's I began buying the odd 200ml or 375ml Single Malt Scotch, usually of an older age, but at least they were in glass bottles.  Lately, I've expanded my interest to the bigger bottles but sticking to the older ages and often limited bottlings.  I did not drink them when I was 10 and other than a wee dram now and then, I still don't drink them but my family will have a hell of a party when I say goodbye.
