I met whisky in 1994 in Orkney.  She was quite pleasant on a tour of malting floors and peat smoking from the kiln.  Great tour from an old silent type full of facts and if only I would have bought 6 of every bottle in the gift shop.

On that initial awakening I followed her to Skye.  Then to Fort Williams and Ben Nevis.  The mountaintop with a hip flask full of HP 12, unfortunately not the local distillery :-(.  Then I stayed close to her lovely presence for a decade, right before malt mania was about to strike the world, I had just enough time to well supply my personal Spirit Locker with enough old bottles.  Then prices went up up and away.  Yet, I still spend too much time and money loving my Uisge, she is truly a star and fully worth my efforts.

Oh yeah, have to mention "28/10/17" it's the 40th anniversary of Never Mind the Bollocks we are the Sex Pistols!!  "Problems" anyone?  Have a nice swig of Highland Park bottled before 1995.  You'll feel better shortly!  IF not handy why not any Springbank? Ben Nevis? so many choices - keep on sippin'!
