My Whisky Journey & Rating Philosophy
I’ve been on my whisky journey since 2013 — and I’m still far from the end. Over the years, my palate has evolved, my shelves have changed, and my appreciation for craftsmanship has deepened. My ratings reflect personal enjoyment, balance, character, and the emotional impact a whisky leaves behind.
My Rating Scale
95–99 — Legendary (theoretical range)
Reserved for once-in-a-lifetime whiskies. In my system, a perfect 100 is unattainable — perfection is something to chase, not to reach.
93–94 — Divine
True masterpieces. Rare whiskies that feel like gifts from the whisky gods. Complex, unforgettable, and deeply moving.
90–92 — Exceptional
World-class drams with outstanding balance, depth, and character. Highly memorable and worth seeking out.
87–89 — Excellent (Bottle-worthy)
Whiskies I strongly recommend owning. Distinctive, enjoyable, and consistently impressive.
80–86 — Solid to Very Good
Well-made whiskies that deliver honest enjoyment. A reliable range for everyday quality drams.
Below 80 — Flawed or Unremarkable
Drinkable, but lacking balance, depth, or excitement for my personal taste.
My ratings are subjective and reflect my personal preferences at the time of tasting — and like my journey, they continue to evolve.
