Hier werken liefhebbers en dat merk je. Zeer kundig en met een waanzinnig geheugen. Als ik daar kom weten ze precies wat ik al thuis heb staan en wat bij mijn smaak past. Zeg je ik zoek iets met de neus van die en de smaak van die whisky, dan wordt er trefzeker naar een fles gegrepen. En, raak! Soms kun je voor de prijs beter naar een 13-in-een dozijn-slijter gaan. Maar daar weten ze zelden wat ze verkopen. Voor die paar euro extra ik graag naar Van Wees. De service, gezelligheid en deskundigheid maken dat meer dan goed.

Leuke winkel met aardige personeel. De mannen namen echt even de tijd om met ons the ouwehoeren. Geen poes pas. Gewoon zoals het is. lekker gekletst en paar mooie flesjes gekocht. Nette winkel met een ruim assortiment.

Well worth the trek by train from Amsterdam. I had the tremendous privilege to meet Han van Wees, who is the most knowledgeable person I’ve ever met concerning Scotland’s whiskies, and their historical scope for nearly one hundred years. His suggestions were impeccable and I had to purchase another suitcase to transport what I bought there, bottles now fondly remembered including a stunning 1972 Caperdonich bottled by G&M with a bright green label. I’ve enjoyed many of their van Wees selections distributed by WBS as van Wees does not ship.

I'm having trouble trying to understand the excellent reviews below. I went in to buy a sherried whisky, preferably Farclas or Romach and, seen as ven Wees are the importer of both brands, excpected a good selection of single casks which was not the case. I turned my attention to Signatory, The Ultimate and G&M. Ok selection and the SV was reasonably priced. I then started chatting with the salesman (who's name i won't mention). First of all he destroyed the Ultimate Bunna bottlings and we started about Edradour and sherried whisky. He informed me that Edradour and their Ultimate bottlings, including Ballechin, contain 'PX powder' - i forget the exact name. PX powder, seriously? 'But that's not allowed, right?'. 'Yes it is', was his reply. That was it, no whisky for me today. However, I was up for something else after the long drive and he offered me Some Armagnac. I have to admit, it's an ok bottle. BUT, when i asked about the ABV being brought back to 46, this guy informed me that 'they leave the stuff in the barrel until it reaches 46% and then bottle it'. Seriously, WTF? I am vey sorry Mr. Van Wees, keeper of the quaich, i won't be purchasing any more of your products or be visiting your shop any time soon.

mooie zaak met zeer enthousiaste mensen met kennis van zaken, die weten hoe je iets moet verkopen. de uitgebreide proeftafel helpt hierbij heel goed.

Topwinkel. Zeer ruim assortiment aan zowel OB's als IB's, met uiteraard een zeer aanwezige uitstalling van Ultimate's.
Heel veel te proeven, vriendelijk en kundig personeel, leuk sfeertje. Het is dat deze shop wat verder van huis is, anders zou ik hier zeer geregeld even langsrijden...
