If you are a bargain hunter, you should probably avoid Finest Whisky in Berlin. Quality has its price, and this shop does not aim to compete with all the online retailers.
When you step through the entrance door, you might think 'That's it?'. The front part of the shop offers mainly official bottlings, but carefully selected, and at slightly elevated prices. Most of the occasional customers will not make it to the two backrooms where 'the real stuff' is hidden.
I admit that the interior appears like a crammed storage with dim light and bottles all over the place, but I actually enjoyed the treasure hunt for something special. The selection of old and rare bottles is stunning (and so are the price tags), although I must say that some of the bottles are actually fairly priced. Both Uwe and Marcus gave me a generous discount on my purchase, so I don't want to echo the criticism of other reviewers that this shop is not for mere mortals.
The service is excellent, both Uwe and Marcus are whisky geeks with a real passion for the water of life. Even the drop-in customer asking for 'Jack Daniel's' was taken care of in a polite manner.
I conclude by saying that Finest Whisky is worth a visit if you are beyond a whisky novice and you are willing to pay for a special bottle that is hard to find. I will certainly visit this shop again!
