As said several times before, these undisclosed Speyside (Region) 1973 are for me the best whisky's bottled in the last 15 to 20 years. There's so much tropical fruit in it. Lovely! By the way, my theory is that most of these expressions are Glenfarclas matured on fino sherry. But we probably will never know.
    • Nose
As expected tropical fruit alarm! So lots of juicy papayas, sweet melon, tinned pineapple, and fresh mango. Oh, and why not add passion fruit, lychees, and overripe peaches? Pollen and touch of bergamot. In the background, there's an attractive layer of beehives and polished oak. This is just great high end whisky.
    • Taste
Full mouth coating sweet and fruity again with apricots and pineapple intermingled with some gentle waxy notes. Plenty of fresh oranges and tangerines in combination with lemon grass and old herbal liqueurs as well. Hints of vanilla custard, butterscotch and clover honey. Whiff of cinnamon and a little aniseed. A little cardamom as well. Slightly minty later on.
    • Finish
Long, with hints of marzipan and caraway seeds. A little white pepper. Ginger. Some menthol at the end. Needless to say this whisky nose, taste and finish of this whisky is perfectly balanced.
