  1. Totoro scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    [Blindtasting Notes]

88 points, I suspect the coast, refill sherry and about 18-20 years.

Oho, mega interesting again. Mineral, tart, maritime / close to the coast, delicate smoky ... That could be a springbank, or something with a comparable basic character and phenol content. Refill sherry, leather, some paraffin and machine oil ... Now I'm thinking, maybe Nevis with smoke too? Or even a Glen Scotia? : eek: Over time the wood gets stronger, there is also a really strong grain note, which I have found in intensity lately, especially at Lomond (something 17 yo "Organic" or the new 21er). I now also find it a bit milky / cheesy / funky. Definitely a head of character, although I find it a little too rough / restless and unusual for a higher score - the pronounced cereal note in particular is not my thing.

Nice oily, leathery, salty, maritime, delicate acidity, great taste development with a pronounced plateau in the middle, very full for 46 percent. The smoke only plays a subordinate role; the palate is more towards a mild grill aroma. Becomes increasingly sweeter. The wood is quite present right at the end, but again very elegant and without any missing notes or steam hammer dominance. I think that's what I particularly like about this one: that it doesn't rely on strong, one-dimensional showmanship, but convinces with balance and balance without losing sight of the intensity.

Creamy and sweet at the back, full of marzipan and caramel, I'll guess US oak.
