[November 2022] I had this dram during the 20th anniversary tasting of the FoSM club. The complete line-up consisted of 20-years old drams only (Glenfarclas, Rosebank, Longmorn, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Clynelish and Laphroaig)...

...and these seemed to be rather sub-standard casks from the problematic times of Bruichladdich (shortly before closure) which they enhanced with a powerful Barolo cask finish. The malt itself feels thin and tired, the wine is okay.
    • Nose
      85 85
The colour is russetmuscat, and the nose offers a modern winey profile with both the Barolo and the malt almost on par right after serving (still the wine is a little stronger). There are minor sulphurous off-notes (struck matches) which grow stronger upon breathing and bury the malt's aromas over time, unfortunately. But the wine flavours are capable of containing this little flaw, so the nose stays enjoyable.
    • Taste
      86 86
The taste is quite simple on winey flavours and sweet barley sugars. The other flavours of the malt are shy and dare to come out of the dark after intense chewing only. Unfortunately, the chewing releases these little sulphurous off-notes too but these are no major deal. This dram is simple and easy drinkable, nothing more and nothing less.
    • Finish
      83 83
The dram arrives warming but without any significant coating effect on my palate, hence the finish is rather short. It adds no new impressions and dries out towards the end with a minor cardboardy impression. Water is not needed as it just flattens the dram.
