About Caledonian Distillery

There was a Caledonian (1), 1823-45 in Cambeltown.

Caledonian (2) was actually called Edingburgh (1) at the start.

Used a continuous still (Coffey) for grain whisky. In c1867 they installed two large pot stills. They were used  to make "Irish-style malt whiskey". The pot stills were removed c1900. Also had a large Carter's Rectifying Still. 5,5 millions litre whisky was bombed away 1940. Partially demolished 1997.
