About heat_shock:

Tim started drinking whisky in the 1980s but really did not start enjoying single malts until the mid-1990s.  About 2010, Tim tried cask strength, single cask whiskies for the first time and since then, finding and enjoying whiskies of this type has been a passion and hobby.  Tim is a member of the Single Malt Whisky Society (Edinburgh), The Companions of Quaich (Toronto Chapter) and the Toronto Whisky Society.  Tim regularly attends whisky tastings at The Caledonian bar and other locals in Toronto.  Tim also attended the Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival in 2016 and went on a fantastic Scotland whisky and distillery tour in June 2019 organized by the Companions of the Quaich.

Tim Westwood is originally from southern Alberta and holds Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees from the Universities of Lethbridge and Calgary respectively and a PhD from the University of California (Berkeley).  Dr. Westwood did postdoctoral studies in molecular biology and biochemistry at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, Maryland) and the C.H.
