Medium copper, a couple shades darker than the new 12 year. While the 12 year was all about baked apple and butter pie crust, this is much more sharp and focuses on spiced fruits. Nose is quite spicy in fact, very direct, I get almost mince meat with heavily spiced baked apple with lots of botanicals. Alcohol heat. Mouth is nice and thick with loads of spiced fruits, maybe a spiced Christmas punch. A very alcoholic spiced punch, this. Cloves, cinnamon, very pleasant and well done. Nectarine, shale. Sharp, attacking and lively, much more than the 12 year. It's quite nice to have the two side by side to see where it goes with time. Finish dries out fairly quickly but leaves a lot of alcohol heat on the tongue and that enjoyable winter spice collage.
