Nose: neat: very floral (lilly), honey, caramel, some wood notes, some earth notes as well. After sitting for around 15 minutes, I started to pickup some coffee notes. In some ways it reminds me of Highland Park 12 (the newer ones)! Very faint smoke notes but that may very well be from the charrel barrels, it doens't seem to be from peat. Very good complexity and depth, excellent nose! with water: pretty much unchanged.
Taste: neat: much sweeter than expected, lots of honey notes, with some spices (ginger) and bitter orange. Very easy to drink neat. with water: brings out more of the spiciness but doesn't really improve.
Finish: neat: slightly dry, finishes on spices and wood tones. with water: shorter, slightly more bitter, overall it's one of the rare whiskies I prefer neat.
Comments: this is an excellent surprise, it topped my expectations, especially when neat. water here doesn't really add anything to it, on the contrary.
MY SCORE: Highly Recommended
