This was a present off a mate and I've actually enjoyed it. Nice summer dram to sip whilst watching a film. Not for everyone, I think the spice might be a bit too much for some people.

Lots of spice and wood notes with citrus like lemon and orange.
Pear drops sweets and sherbet dip.
The wood notes are more like fresh wood shavings and there are hints of lilac and carnations.

To me there seems to be a lot going on, stuff scrapping to get to the forefront but it has been held back by the dominant spice and wood notes.
There are little bursts here and there of citrus, liquorice, mint and pear.
This makes it more interesting i think.
The 46% gives it a bit of a leg up, can't see how adding water is going to help.

The finish is very much like a barrel aged dry Cornish cider. Lots of spice that leave that tingle in the mouth and dried fruit on the death.

The whisky is clearly on the spicy side with relatively little fruit flavor. He has nice wood / barrel notes, but for me is also somewhat one-dimensional. He opens up something with water, but he just lacks the complexity.
    • Nose
Smoke, alcohol and acid (lemon juice). Slightly musty stall note and bright, fresh wood. Cooling nose like through some eucalyptus. After a while, the smoke evaporates and light, bright fruits like fresh plums come through, then dry leaves and hay. With water he opens something, more fruits come, but still dominates this ashtray-smokiness. After further waiting, I smell coke bottles and a subtle leather note
    • Taste
As if I had a cold tobacco pipe in my mouth. The alcohol beats something, the whisky is now sweeter. After some time then again bitterness, it comes dark chocolate, with water also espresso. The water also makes it easier, and there are no really new flavors added. Overall, the whisky is very spicy.
    • Finish
Pipe tobacco, dark chocolate / espresso and wood also dominate here. The finish is relatively long and again on the clearly spicy side. Very late then some licorice.
