Whisky Reviews for Glengoyne 1999 MoS

Unfortunately, I can not leave such wonderfully formulated notes as my predecessor.
However, I can make a clear recommendation. If you like a few more percents in the glass, Glengoyne likes, can afford a wonderful drop for currently good 130 ¬: ACCESS!
The divine 25yo costs double. 18yo and 21yo with their 43% are a bit "easy" for me. What else is there? Unfortunately nothing. At least from Glengoyne.

Nice part with nice barrel influence. Successful MoS filling, which was probably bottled just in time. 90 points
    • Nose
Sweet sherry notes, powerful. Super pleasant in the nose. Vanilla. Nut croissants. Distinct walnut flavors. Very harmonious and balanced. fresh hay
    • Taste
Also very strong on the palate. Dark fruits. Blueberries. Spicy notes of vanilla, caramel, coconut and honey, which quickly turn bitter like lightly baked caramel. Walnut. Cinnamon. Pretty multi-faceted. The barrel has a lot of oak load delivered, so that the fruit but slightly less than in the nose to advantage. But for that there is a great vanilla-dominated spice that wafts up the nose after swallowing.
    • Finish
long, spicy, first bitter, then interestingly sweeter again. Mouth remains sweet and dry for a long time, easily fermented, I like that. Nice mouthfeel

A dreamlike bottling. Nice, not too dominant sherry aroma with many facets, powerful and voluminous, varied and warming the palate. Delicious, I like it!

    • Nose
Light copper and dark caramel shine in the premium snifter, dried berries rise while a large and oily streak sticks to the glass wall. Sweet caramel and a pinch of cinnamon dissolve from the dark and dried berry and grape mixture, vanilla plays with sour cherries and a hint of cocoa. The sour cherry aroma becomes more intense, sweet sugar and toffee are added, in the background there is a minimal citrus note. Slowly the saliva is stimulated, hazelnuts fall into creamy milk chocolate, again raisins and sour cherries appear.
    • Taste
After the first sip, a dark berry aroma is distributed voluminously on the palate, orange peel grates on dark chocolate, old apricots and peaches come into their own. A heavy spice mixture is on the tongue, spicy wood tones and a slightly musty fruit aroma leave creamy hazelnuts on the palate. Sour cherries and currants mix with a chunk of hard caramel, the mouthfeel becomes creamy and dry at the same time. the second sip is sweeter and more fruity and at this very moment a load of black pepper explodes on the tongue and spreads chubby warmth throughout the palate. The pleasant sharpness slowly fades away, wooden influences are clearly evident on the palate, old walnuts stick to the tongue. A hint of wet leather flits by, lightly decayed remains of wood float in the saliva, and the taste gradually becomes oily and creamy.
    • Finish
Molded wood tones stick to the palate with dried berries, oily and creamy, sweet caramel and fermented fruits emerge. After an old and tart walnut note, there is a subtle hint of fresh mint and eucalyptus. The aftertaste fades away relatively quickly and leaves behind a dry and creamy mixture of dried berries and juicy sour cherries. Sweetness sticks to the palate ...

    [Blind tasting notes]

Guess: Tamdhu 15-year-old or something along those lines. I don't find this particularly characterful or memorable, though the nose is nice.

Chocolate-chip cookie dough, speculoos, sweetened cranberries, raisin roll, caramel wafer, almond paste. A bit of leather and tobacco.
    • Taste
      84 84
Some heat, a lemony freshness in the middle, plus the typical raisins and dried plums. The flavor itself is not unpleasant, but it seems a bit "hollow", if that makes sense. Astringent and acidic; not a lot of substance besides the sherry and the sour fruits.
    • Finish
      82 82
Short to medium at best, getting thinner and spicier by the second. Pretty acidic.

N: Vanilla biscuits, cotton candy, roasted almonds, I'm in the Christmas bakery or at the fair. Behind it darker notes, figs, walnuts, moldy wood, leather
M: surprisingly soft on the tongue, very spicy, cinnamon, vanilla, some coconut, cloves, allspice. Beautifully creamy mouthfeel, the sweetness caresses the tip of the tongue. A little peppery tickles the edge of the tongue and cheeks.
    A: Creamy flavoring forever ...
Conclusion: very very nice. Wonderfully harmonious, well integrated alcohol, great creaminess. The next top filling
Tip: Sherry barrel, 15-18 years, 53%, maybe a Highland Park? Maybe an Arran? 90-91 points

Choco crossies, sour cherries, herbs, balsamic vinegar, fresh plums, white chocolate, a bit buttery, green leaves, pipe tobacco, mud from a rain puddle, citrus fruits.
    • Taste

Oily, very full, bittersweet, dry, strong on the whole, perfect combination of old orange zest and a nice fruit compote.
    • Finish

dry fruits, on which one likes to chew on it.
Something is hanging there, but unfortunately that does not stay too long
