Whisky Reviews for Glen Grant 1988 AD

  1. dramspotter scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Blind mystery tasting. Hard pressed to identify this as a Glen Grant, it seems this collage of different things. However, it somehow pulls it off. Weird but wondrous.
    • Nose
      82 82
peat, sulphur, quite a bit of prickle, swimming pool, straw, solvent
    • Taste
      86 86
      very soft, woolen blanket
    • Finish
      84 84
      medium; fizzy, white pepper

  2. robain scored this whisky 85 points Specialist

    • Nose
In conclusion this dosnt feel 52.2%, its way to oily and uncarasteristic for a 29yo on refill sherry butts.
    • Taste
not very powerful even w/o water, pretty thin, some sweet cooked fruits, sherry, not that impressed, very oily
    • Finish
You can tell this is a refill, probably a second refill or something, not very big impact from sherry other than some slim notes

  4. Xaver did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
The colleague starts with a ripe, green apple. Slightly sour gooseberries and a hint of leather. Cooked fruits and a good dose of honey. The alcohol keeps back very cool and only discreetly the nose. Smells a bit of old wooden cabinet. With time in the glass tart notes come through. Everything but very set. Plum jam and men's chocolate now take command.
    • Taste
Mild, slightly spicy onset. Instantly creamy, honey-like mouthfeel. Some sour notes, which are immediately replaced by sweet plums and chocolate. The oak spell holds back very much, but is somehow always present. But where are the 52.2% alcohol ?? At the second sip more cherry and chocolate. Reminds me of Mon Cherie.
    • Finish
Medium to long. Nice creamy and warm. Slightly spicy with nutty bitterness.
